NYC BigApps 2014 is an initiative of NYCEDC to promote government transparency and the creation of innovative new technologies. Following NYC BigApps 2013, this year’s event is the fifth annual run of the competition and is being managed by HR&A Advisors in collaboration with Super Vision and Splash.
We're looking for someone with strong Ruby on Rails, Test:Unit, and data reporting experience. We use SQL (ActiveRecord) to generate one-liners that provide numerical, and often, social insight into a user's activity over a given range of time; we also use data-centric decision trees to send communications like Email and SMS. Must work well with a small team. Must be persistent enough to produce clean, simple solutions for complex, sometimes messy problems.
We're looking for someone who specializes in front end design and product development. We provide a simple, clean interface for data collection, and interfaces for reporting said data, based on social and emotional relationships. You will help us extend and improve this mechanism with your skills in web design, human interaction, data analysis, and information presentation. Must work well with a small team. Experience with AngularJS or a similar JS framework is preferred, but not required. Must be persistent enough to produce clean, simple solutions for complex, sometimes messy problems.
